Humanitarian Goodness

The idea of random acts of kindness has swept the world. What if we encouraged others to commit to a lifestyle of humanitarian benevolence — not waiting for the state or a bureaucracy to solve the small problem in front of them?

This is not tied to the most basic needs on Maslow’s list. It is the tiny things that can still make a difference.

A member listed an Amazon Alexa for sale. A woman wanted it, then could not pick it up — a new baby on oxygen. A friend sixty miles away agreed to transport it. The member gave it to her for free. A gift of music will not change the world. It might have made her week.

Another member sat at a light on a motorcycle. A turning vehicle dumped a bag of debris on the roadway. He got off and tossed it clear. Not world-changing. A spontaneous act of humanitarian goodness.

This project is not only for principled libertarians. It is for volunteers with a wide range of worldviews. We like the idea of people doing nice things — even if their day job is something we would never praise. What can we do to lead others into autonomous humanitarian goodness? We are working on it.
